Thanks to everyone who came down to the Soul Tree for Melt-Banana on Tuesday -- hopefully you'll agree it was well worth the wait to see them up close in Cambridge!
Our next night is the Osaka Invasion Tour -- a full European tour featuring Bad Timing favourites Ove-Naxx and DJ Scotch Egg plus Maruosa and Bogulta, who plays for the first time.

gay against you
(adaadat)

The Portland
129 Chesterton Road Cambridge
Price: £5/6
Start: 8:30
> flyer

Gay Against You are the enthusiastic, messy and very, very friendly duo of Lachlann Rattray and Joe Howe, who inhabit the middle ground between Cyndi Lauper and The Locust. With a debut album 'Musclemilk' is out now on Adaadat and they have previously supported Lightning Bolt and Shitdisco and released a split single with none other than The Vichy Government.

Previous events have involved colour-in animal masks, totem poles and chair mountains and a stageset of a giant sleeping triangular cardboard lion made on the afternoon of the gig ... and that's just the ones in Cambridge. Expect noise and audience participation and Holy Roar-style positive-vibes.

kevin blechdom / barnwave
(chicks on speed, tigerbeat6, v/vm)

Since rejecting pure laptop music and performance to form the (now-defunct) Blectum from Blechdom, Kevin Blechdom (Kristin Erickson) has been making music which toys fearlessly with cartoon effects, fingerpicking banjo and power balladery in deliberately accomplished "bad" songs.

Known for her eccentricity and sense of fun (as anyone who's seen her rendition of Tina Turner's 'Private Dancer' complete with poledancing-style chair, helium and ever-more precarious key changes will testify) Kristin has released 2 albums on Chicks on Speed, whilst racking up a host of other releases on various labels including Tigerbeat 6 and V/Vm. She returns to the UK with her new project Barnwave with Christopher Fleeger on drum-triggered sounds of all kinds. Previous Cambridge appearances in Cambridge have been with DAT Politics and Planningtorock.

"impossibly addictive and bizarre; every time you get close to packing it all away and understanding exactly what it is, there's another explosion of ideas and you are left doubting everything you felt so sure about a minute ago. Terrifying post-modern neurotic/ emotional realism! Album of the year 9/10" Drowned in Sound

"a compulsive, repulsive, inspired glimpse of the void within, and possibly the most psychedelic record of the year so far" Frances May Morgan, Plan B
