THE DEAD TEXAN
(STARS OF THE LID, AIX EM KLEMM, KRANKY RECORDS, USA)

The Dead Texan is a collaborative project featuring Adam Wiltzie, best known as a member of Stars Of The Lid and Labradford collaboration Aix Em Klemm, and painter, illustrator and animator Christina Vantzos, which has resulted in the recent self-titled CD/DVD release on Kranky (Greg Davis, Keith Fullerton Whitman).

The DVD combines animation with video footage of people, places and things in ways that are both playful and profound. The accompanying music resembles Wiltzie's work with Stars of the Lid and is reminiscent of the film music of Zbigniew Preisner and George Delerue.

By the end of work on the project, the creation of the music and videos became so intertwined that The Dead Texan DVD should definitely be considered a self-contained work rather than merely a collection of promotional videos for a group of songs.
